Social Studies

In Social Studies I studied Political Party policies of education, Housing and Health.

The education policy that i best supported was the Maori party policy because i personally think that ensuring all students who have graduated to have a driver licence, bank account, IRD number and a CV will definitely help them get a job. I also think that providing free education for primary and secondary children will be very helpful to those who are in need to pay bills and also buying their children lunch every week. It will help those that are in need of money. I agree with the Maori party because their policy has the best reasons on what Aotearoa needs.

The housing policy that i best supported was the Maori E because it will help those who need help. For those who need a house and also to those with kids and they are homeless, they definitely a home to take care of their children. It will help us Pasifika and Maori people a lot if the housing decrease because a lot of us can not afford the new houses.

The Health policy that i best supported was the TOP party  because smoking can pollute our air and also the smoke buds make our grounds look ugly and unclean. Also because of the law of children being obese because it is unhealthy for their health, when they grow up their health might not be good. I think that this is the best health policy because smoking can damage you're lungs and being obese is very bad for our health.

Year 9 STARS Camp

On Monday & Tuesday the year 9's went off to camp at Hunua Falls. We weren't excited because well it was only 2 days and we thought it wasn't going to be good. But we thought wrong. It was SOOO fun that even today we still talk about our memories from the camp. My Highlight of the camp was the Confidence Course. It was a course that wasn't to work on our confidence, it was a mud course. It was very disgusting, but it was fun at the same time. My low light at camp was the 10k hike. But I actually enjoyed it a bit. The thing that sucked was that it was a 2 day camp and i wished it was longer. But overall I loved camp.

Social Studies - Migration

Mrs Robertson came into our Social Studies class to talk about her Migrating from Samoa to New Zealand. She talked about how different living in New Zealand than living in Samoa was. She also talked about her main purpose on moving to New Zealand. The reason why is because her parents wanted to build a 'Palagi House' in Samoa. She worked hard and she achieved that goal of hers. She had difficulty learning how to speak English properly. I think that Mrs Robertson story is similar to most Pacific Islanders migration stories, but her one was interesting because when she earned the money for her parents to build a palagi house in Samoa, she didn't just stop there she continued on....

Social Studies- Tokelau Migration

My migration model shows on how Tokelau people are moving to New Zealand. The main reason about them moving is for their kids education, Plenty more jobs and more health support.

Health

In Health we had to create our own Health Model. I did a Netball court because that is one of my favourite sports. The words surrounding the court are words that represent my health. The reason why I chose those words are because...

Culture: I'm proud to be my culture and I'm respectful to other people's culture
Church: Church is my number one priority in life.
Honesty: I chose honesty cause that is one of my values i stand for
Loyalty: Loyalty is one of my values
Faith: Faith is also another one of my values.
Sports: Sports is another one of my priorities
Exercising: Keeps me fit and healthy
Food: The food I eat is part of my health as well
Bravery: Bravery is another one of my values I stand for
